Jan Hartman has over 30 years’ experience in book publishing across more than 200 books. For fifteen years, Jan was an integral part of the editorial and business development team at Princeton Architectural Press, a New York-based independent publishing house known for its artistic, distinctive, and high-quality books.

As a senior editor, Jan developed innovative acquisition strategies, expanding the successful categories of garden, craft, sustainability, and wellness. Acquiring, developing, editing, and project-managing books across a variety of categories, including lifestyle, art, architecture, history, travel, and health and wellness, she established partnerships with cause-related non-profits, including the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation, the Beatrix Farrand Society, and the Historic New Orleans Collection.

In 2020, she founded JAN HARTMAN BOOKS, to pursue her dream of working closely with a diverse array of authors, publishers, and institutions to create books that inspire, inform, and enchant. She serves on the board of the American Book Producers Association, a select group of thirty-two packagers and is on the Advisory Board of Madame Architect.

JAN HARTMAN BOOKS is as worldly and experienced as its founder. The geography of Maine, the lore of New England, the legacy of design, the evidence of craftsmanship, the majesty of Penobscot Bay, and the allure of a substantive life point to the character that Jan Hartman represents.
